    The Verse

King James Version (KJV): And for them, even for the priests, shall be this holy oblation; toward the north five and twenty thousand in length, and toward the west ten thousand in breadth, and toward the east ten thousand in breadth, and toward the south five and twenty thousand in length: and the sanctuary of the LORD shall be in the midst thereof.

New International Version (NIV): This will be the sacred portion for the priests. It will be 25,000 cubits long on the north side, 10,000 cubits wide on the west side, 10,000 cubits wide on the east side, and 25,000 cubits long on the south side. The sanctuary of the LORD will be in the center of it.

English Standard Version (ESV): These shall be for the consecrated priest, the holy portion, which shall be 25,000 cubits in length on the north side, 10,000 in breadth on the west side, 10,000 in breadth on the east side, and 25,000 in length on the south side, with the sanctuary of the LORD in the midst of it.

    Introduction

The book of Ezekiel concludes with an elaborate vision of Israel’s future, focusing on the distribution of land. Chapter 48 speaks to the sacred allocation of the priests’ portion, highlighting God’s divine order and provision. This allocation is more than just land; it symbolizes a place where God’s presence will dwell among His people.

    Historical Context

Ezekiel, a prophet during the Babylonian exile, wrote this book around 593-571 BC. His visions, delivered to the people of Israel, were meant to offer hope, restoration, and a renewed relationship with God. The allocation of land in chapter 48 is part of a larger vision of a restored Israel, emphasizing holiness and divine order.
