    The Verse

King James Version (KJV): And he took the rulers over hundreds, and the captains, and the guard, and all the people of the land; and they brought down the king from the house of the LORD, and came by the way of the gate of the guard to the king's house. And he sat on the throne of the kings.

New International Version (NIV): He took with him the commanders of hundreds, the Carites, the guards, and all the people of the land, and together they brought the king down from the temple of the LORD and went into the palace, entering by way of the gate of the guards. The king then took his place on the royal throne.

English Standard Version (ESV): And he took the captains, the Carites, the guards, and all the people of the land, and they brought the king down from the house of the LORD, marching through the gate of the guards to the king's house. And he took his seat on the throne of the kings.

Carites: Likely a group of elite guards or mercenaries. House of the LORD: The temple, symbolizing divine approval. Gate of the guard: A strategic entry point to the palace, representing security and authority.
