    Introduction

In the midst of genealogies and allotments, 1 Chronicles 6:67 provides a deeper look into God’s providence and His care for His people. This verse highlights the allocation of cities to the Levites, specifically the Gershonite clan, emphasizing the importance of their spiritual service to the community.

    Historical Context

The book of 1 Chronicles was compiled during or after the Babylonian exile, attributed to Ezra. It served to remind the returning Israelites of their heritage and God’s faithfulness. The tribe of Levi was set apart for religious duties, with no land inheritance, receiving cities instead. This verse lists those cities, including places of refuge.
