    Introduction

In the narrative of 2 Chronicles, we encounter the reign of Jehoram, a king whose actions left a significant impact on Judah. This verse highlights a pivotal moment where Jehoram’s choices pulled the nation away from God. It serves as a sobering reminder of the influence leaders can have, and the importance of remaining steadfast in faith. Today, let’s delve into this passage and uncover the lessons it holds for us.

    Historical Context

2 Chronicles was written by the Chronicler, traditionally believed to be Ezra, around 400 BC. It was a time when Judah was reflecting on its history and relationship with God. Jehoram, son of Jehoshaphat, ruled over Judah in the 9th century BC. His reign was marked by political alliances through marriage and a departure from the ways of his father, leading the nation into idolatry.
