Pregnancy is one of the most extraordinary seasons a woman can walk through. There is wonder in it, deep and genuine wonder. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”

He is describing a God who is personally, intimately involved in the formation of every human being. The word translated “knit” carries the sense of careful, intentional craftsmanship. The phrase “all the days ordained for me” is worth sitting with in the first trimester especially, when everything feels uncertain. God sees the full arc of your child’s life, even now. That is not a small comfort. That is an anchor.
2. Isaiah 46:3-4
“Listen to me, you descendants of Jacob, all the remnant of the people of Israel, you whom I have upheld since your birth, and have carried since you were born. Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.”

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
God said these words to Jeremiah, but the principle they reveal applies to every child who has ever been conceived. Before Jeremiah’s parents had even thought of him, God knew him, by name, by purpose, by calling. The same is true of the child you are carrying.

As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy.'”
There is something so human and so holy about this scene. Two pregnant women, one young and one old, both carrying impossible promises. And in the middle of their ordinary greeting, something extraordinary happens: an unborn baby responds to the presence of Jesus.
John the Baptist, still months away from birth, leaps with joy. Life recognizing life. 5. Psalm 127:3
“Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.”
