    The Verse

King James Version (KJV): He shall also set his face to enter with the strength of his whole kingdom, and upright ones with him; thus shall he do: and he shall give him the daughter of women, corrupting her: but she shall not stand on his side, neither be for him.

New International Version (NIV): He will determine to come with the might of his entire kingdom and will make an alliance with the king of the South. And he will give him a daughter in marriage in order to overthrow the kingdom, but his plans will not succeed or help him.

English Standard Version (ESV): He shall set his face to come with the strength of his whole kingdom, and he shall bring terms of an agreement and perform them. He shall give him the daughter of women to destroy the kingdom, but it shall not stand or be to his advantage.

    Introduction

The book of Daniel is a profound testament to the sovereignty of God amid the tumultuous shifts of earthly kingdoms. Daniel 11:17 unveils a strategic maneuver by a powerful king, illustrating both the ambition and the ultimate futility of human plans against divine will. It reminds us that while individuals and nations may plot and plan, it is ultimately God’s purpose that prevails. This revelation invites us to trust in God’s sovereignty and align ourselves with His will rather than relying solely on human wisdom.
