    The Verse

King James Version (KJV): The LORD of hosts shall defend them; and they shall devour, and subdue with sling stones; and they shall drink, and make a noise as through wine; and they shall be filled like bowls, and as the corners of the altar.

New International Version (NIV): The LORD Almighty will shield them. They will destroy and overcome with slingstones. They will drink and roar as with wine; they will be full like a bowl used for sprinkling the corners of the altar.

English Standard Version (ESV): The LORD of hosts will protect them, and they shall devour and tread down the sling stones, and they shall drink and roar as if drunk with wine and be full like a bowl, drenched like the corners of the altar.

    Introduction

In a world filled with uncertainties, there is an unyielding promise of protection and victory for those who trust in the Lord. Zechariah 9:15 provides a vivid imagery of God’s mighty defense over His people, promising not only physical safety but also spiritual triumph.

This verse is a reassuring reminder that God is actively involved in the battles of our lives, ensuring that we emerge victorious, filled, and consecrated for His purpose.

    Historical Context

The book of Zechariah was written by the prophet Zechariah around 520-518 BC, during the time when the Israelites were returning from Babylonian exile. This verse is part of a larger prophetic declaration concerning the triumph and restoration of God’s people, assuring them of divine intervention in their struggles and a future filled with hope and peace.
